As your child’s online reading tutor, I’ll lead your son or daughter through 7, 25-minute online tutoring sessions.
The first session is a kid-friendly reading assessment. Then, we’ll know exactly where to start!

Q: Where are the tutoring calls held?
A: Each 25-minute tutoring call is held on Zoom. You will be sent a link. Join at your chosen time and I will meet you there!
Q: What does my child need to bring for each tutoring session?
A: Your child should bring a whiteboard and whiteboard marker. Bring your best smile and positive attitude kiddo!
Q: Where should my child be for each tutoring session?
A: Your child should be in an open space in your home with you immediately nearby. The kitchen or living room work great!
Q: Do you give refunds?
I use proven phonics skills for beginning readers in multiple classrooms with a wide variety of learners and reading abilities. In lieu of refunds, let’s chat about how I can best help your child advance in his/her ability to apply simple phonics skills to read simple decodable texts.
Q: How do I know this will work for me and my child?
A: I am formally trained in phonics instruction for beginning readers (K-2). During my 10+ years of classroom experience as a reading and writing teacher for kids ages 4-8, I have seen kids progress as readers, regardless of their literacy background.
Q: What tech does my child need?
A: Just a laptop and headphones and parent close by (if needed). Of course, you are welcome to join each tutoring session to see HOW I model simple phonics skills for K-2 reader at home.
Q: My child is nervous. Will this work?
A: It’s just me, Melanie! I am friendly and approachable. I’ve taught Kindergarten through 3rd grade for 10+ years. I’ll give your child a warm welcome and provide quick, 30-second movement breaks if needed (run/hop/march on the spot).
Q: What if I need to reschedule?
A: I understand that you are a busy mom, and life happens. Kids get sick, you get sick, the unexpected occurs. Please make your best effort to meet at your chosen time. Send me an email as soon as you can if you must reschedule.
