- How expensive is this homeschool curriculum?
- Will this homeschool curriculum work for me and my child?
- Is this homeschool curriculum offline, online, or a combination of both?
You’re looking for reviews from other homeschool moms who’ve actually bought and used the thing before, because you want to know, “Does this work?”
‘Curriculum overwhelm’ hits really fast, so you shut your laptop, because you’re afraid of making the wrong decision, spending your hard-earned dollars on the wrong thing, again. Instead of actually getting a curriculum to act as a guide, you put off ordering curriculum altogether!!
If you’re a homeschool mom, agonizing over the perfect curriculum, it doesn’t exist. But, the good news — great curriculums do!
Homeschool Curriculum I Wish I’d Had
Here’s the curriculum I’d order:
- Simple enough for my child and I to do together
- A curriculum I felt was worth the investment (It’s not going to break the bank, but…)
- Gets my child small, daily reading wins!
Homeschool Curriculum that’s SIMPLE
Simple enough that I’d actually teach it! If you’ve got to cut, paste, staple, print 3 different resources from 3 different folders and 2 different websites just to get your lesson started, I’m already tired. The mental hodge-podge of everything being in different places can actually be a mental block to just getting the lesson going.
Anyone felt this? I want to move to the next lesson and have the structure of the lesson the same every time. I quickly know how to guide my child through a simple phonics lesson, so that our lesson time together goes smoothly.
Let me share about the power of simplicity and routine with 20+ children in a classroom. Twenty 6-8 year-olds with one teacher with all the needs and all the questions need a simple phonics routine. Simple reading activities. Simple spelling activities. In the same order every lesson, so they’re settled and grounded, and so are you.
You don’t need bells and whistles. You don’t need online apps to teach your kiddos, although there are some great online apps that I would absolutely recommend to supplement and reinforce a phonics skill. But, this is you leading your child through a simple phonics routine.
The homeschool curriculum I wish I’d had would be simple enough for both of you to do together on ‘rinse and repeat’.
Homeschool Curriculum Worth the Investment
You want to feel good about spending a few bucks on this curriculum. As a homeschool MOM, curriculum purchases are on the radar. No suprise!
Is this curriculum an investment worth making? We’re talking ‘curriculum’ here, so we’re not breaking the bank. BUT, I know how it feels to receive a product I’ve ordered, and it’s completely underwhelming, just leaves me feeling badly that I spent the dollars.
Yes, there’s going to be trial and error when purchasing curriculum. Most curriculum is new to you, so you need to give it a chance. The homeschool curriculum I wish I’d had would be worth spending a few dollars on.
